...admit it. You thought I was dead, didn't you? ;p

LOST: My thoughts... )

Kind of a long-winded way to say "LOST IS AWESOME," but there you go.

SO! Fall in...how's everyone been doing? :P
madwomanwithabox: ([Emote] Sawyer - Bitch Please)
...don't ask. I don't know. 'Fandom and cheese' just go well together.

ANYWAY! *ahem*

Dear LOST,

THERE you are. My show, my beautiful show with that *points at icon* beautiful man being beautiful. This has been a really great season so far and I love me some Faraday, but seriously.

*points at icon*

Thank you for waking up my muse and giving me fanfic ideers again.

Love and lots of it,
Me

Thus ends my nonspoilery review of LOST. Carry on.
madwomanwithabox: ([Sawyer] Band Aid)
I am offering one lollipop to the person or persons that will kindly fly or drive out to Reseda, bring a Louisville Slugger, and just beat me senseless. It will feel much better than the case of creeping crud that I'm currently nursing.

...yeah, that's really all I have to say. See icon. Did I mention I'd love you forever if you KILLED ME?

...okay, just checking.
madwomanwithabox: ([DJ Luxe] OMG)
Let's preface with, yes, I suck at updating, but I HAD TO SHARE.

I'm listening to KLOS on the web this morning and there's this band on called Crooked X. The kids in it don't break age 16, seriously...and they're playing some of the best balls-out rock 'n roll I've ever heard.

I love their guitar player, their lead singer's amazing...if I didn't know these kids were KIDS, I'd be having some very dirty thoughts right now about the singer. Seriously, just based on the voice.

And? THEY OPENED FOR KISS.

That is all. [/end random ejaculation of rocker gyrl glee]

I didn't want to post before I had a picture on my comp that I could use, but...

R.I.P.
Penny Marie Carlie
1998 - 2008

Penny was our second oldest cat, a tabby/calico with the sweetest nature you ever saw, and she was beautiful beyond words. There's so much I could say about her, but I'm exhausted and I swear I'll do this right later on...

A respiratory infection got the better of her on the 22nd of November and we had to have her put down. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do, and it was only made worse by the fact that one of my other cats was recently diagnosed with liver cancer...more on that later.

On a brighter note? I'm a NaNo Winner for the fifth year running. 50,150 and growing, but the work overall is complete, beginning to end. I suck at updating recently, and I suck more at saying so little about this year's NaNo, but I DID IT!

And I dedicated the novel to Penny's memory. It's kind of funny, two years ago I did the same thing for Ramona when she died. At least they're together now.

Anyway, it's time for me to sleep. I earned it. ;)

LOVE YOU ALL!!!!
madwomanwithabox: ([Jack] Certain Degree of Surrender)
I'm not political by nature, but when I heard about Ted Kennedy my heart sank like a stone.

My heart goes out to Senator Kennedy and his family...no one should ever have to suffer through anything like this.

A glioblastoma multiforme killed my mother twelve years ago. The glioma he's been diagnosed with is far more aggressive...and let me tell you, I wouldn't wish a brain tumor like this on my worst enemy.

The funny thing? Mom loved the Kennedys...she campaigned for Bobby back in the day. Heh.

Sometimes life is just one big kick in the head.

Random BIG FUCKING DEAL Of The Day:

DEEP THOUGHTS: if you shock yourself enough via static electricity enough, will you incur brain damage?

It's ALL I DO around the office. Walk...SHOCK...walk...SHOCK...

Plz for to be moisturizing the air, k? K.

I'll be in my bunk drinking coffee. :P
madwomanwithabox: ([DJ Luxe] OMG)
MATT NATHANSON IS ON 95.5 KLOS RIGHT-FREAKING NOW, ON MARK AND BRIAN.

AND HE IS AWESOME.

THUS ENDS THIS POST OF CAPSLOCKY GOODNESS.

P.S.: Anyone with internet access and who can listen to streaming radio? Log on to 955klos.com right now and check it out. Seriously...Erica is to blame for me loving this guy, and he's seriously GOOD STUFF.

And as for my only other random...

R.I.P.
Ramona Quimby Carlie
1989-2006

One year ago, I lost a pet, a mother, and a sister when my cat died. Those of you who know me well...or at all...knew Ramona by proxy. She was the caretaker of my family, my best friend, and a major part of my life. Hell, she was even a character in some of my writing.

A stroke ultimately ended her life...her heart threw a clot, and she ended up paralyzed from the waist down. She just got old, and her time came. We had no choice but to put her down and end her suffering.

If you never had a pet, or a pet you got close to, you don't understand the pain that comes with this kind of loss, or the joy that they can bring you. You don't understand the humanity that an animal can have, or how the bond you form with them runs as deep, if not deeper, than the bonds of blood that bind a family.

Ramona saw me through my mother's death. She was one of the first people I talked to when I finally began to confront the fact that my dad and my brother were abusing me emotionally. She let me hold her as I cried through every vicious fight, climbed in my lap every time I felt the most alone.

I couldn't do anything to save her. I didn't get a real chance to say goodbye, and thanks to my father and my brother, I still haven't had my own chance to grieve for her. So today, I'm doing the only thing I can for the second most important person in my life next to my mom.

I'm making sure that nobody forgets her.

So I guess it's kind of fitting that today, All Soul's Day, is the anniversary of the day she died. They say that no one ever dies if you remember them...I'd like to think that there's a lot of people who read this thing, and if everyone who does read it could just think about her today...just once, just for a second...it'd be like having her back again for just a minute.

Rest in peace, girlie...and don't drive Mom too crazy.

I love you, Mona Belle.
madwomanwithabox: (Default)
Dude, I totally got it today.

*bops along to Puffy AmiYumi* *enjoys Neurosonic* *squees at the sight of "Ain't It Fun"*

madwomanwithabox: ([Jack] Too Much Of Anything)
Days suck. Especially this one. More later, me no like talk now.

I've seen people remarking on NaNo, so...*adds name to list* This'll be numberrrrr...five for me. Fifth NaNo, fourth novel. Wowzers. I'm like...a veteran now. And stuff. :P

So, anyhoozle, for those interested in my progress? Here's *my* journal for NaNo and other writerly-ness: [livejournal.com profile] onthe_8thday. A comm makes posty-ness easier. :P

This year my novel's gonna be way different...at least as far as I can tell. I'm actually...get this...NOT writing a fantasy/sci-fi novel. I know...shocker, right?

This year it's a straight mystery, and...well...friend the comm. I'll be posting info fairly soon about the foundations of...stuuuuuuff. :P

Anyhoozle, gotsa go...Tim's bitching about dinner.

Days suck? But brothers suck worse.

*MWAH* Loves to my peepz, bitches! Hee!
madwomanwithabox: ([DJ Luxe] OMG)
WATCH SUPERNATURAL TONIGHT. DO IT OR I'LL GIVE YOU A NOOGIE.

....okay, only if you want one.

But SERIOUSLY, guys. You all know my obsession love of all things Mother Superior...hardy little Hollywood power trio that's keeping rock 'n roll alive, the way Dean Winchester likes it? Tonight, a song of theirs will be ON THE SHOW. It's called "Did You See It?" and it's off of 13 VIOLETS, the last album they did with former drummer Jason Mackenroth.

Trust me, this is a catchy, GROOVY little tune, and if you like what you hear? Head over to the MS store and pick yourself up a copy. Their catalog's not huge, but well populated, and if you wanna know more about the band? Check out the site or ask me, I've been stalking them fangirling their asses for seven years.

*iz in a happy place*
madwomanwithabox: ([The Kill Point] Mr. Wolf)
Dear HEROES,

Thank you for to be giving [livejournal.com profile] rogueapprentice disturbingly creepycool muses, for now I have my revenge for SUPERNATURAL, LOST, THE KILL POINT, and Matthew Fox.

*evil cackle*

madwomanwithabox: ([Heroes] Falling On Deaf Ears)
Hiiiii, Peter. You got pretty muscles. *pets them* *nibbles on your forearm*

K? Thx. Bai.

Maybe I can provide a coherent review later. RP peeps? I gots a Peter if anyone wants to sex him up play wif him. Yah. Pretty musclessssssssssss...okay, I'm done. Swear. *sneaks one more pet*
madwomanwithabox: ([Text] All Amber's Fault)
-Hello, friendly friends. Yes, I am alive. No, I have not abandoned LJ, even if I have abandoned my paid account. (It expired...I have no money. Liz will get herself a brand new Petrelli-friendly layout when she wins the lotto...oh yesh...) And finally, yes Virginia...there *is* a Santa Claus. :P

-A little about home: Dad's in the hospital. Long story short? Another infection...sorta. Infection sent him there (under his own power, he scheduled an ambulance transport himself and did his own admitting...the whole nine yards), and turns out they found circulation issues in his leg. Not the lymphedema mind you...he's got arterial blockage, and today he's going in for an angiogram/angioplasty. The angiogram is an exploratory procedure...like taking an x-ray of his veins. If they find the blockage isn't too bad, they insert a catheter and use a balloon to move the blockage and clear the way...that's the angioplasty part.

The fun side? He refuses to be awake for it...he's demanded that they put him under anesthesia. He *says* nothing can go wrong? But he basically drove himself into the hospital...most of you know the story, but for those who don't: he waited five and a half months for this thing with his leg to get this bad. Anyway, I no longer trust him. So...if you pray, just do me a favor today and warn God that Liz will be PISSED if anything happens to him. ;)

-In other news...about a week or so ago, I won $300 on the local radio. *insert cheering section here* It's like a payroll gimmick...they call a name every hour, and if you call in to accept, you get $100 an hour until the next person calls in when they get their name called. I registered...I got called. No one else called in for 3 hours, so I made some SHWEET bank. Oh yesh. My check's in the mail, so I'm just all bouncy to get it now. HEE!

-Why did I use this icon? BECAUSE IT'S FUNNY.

-I heart Wentworth Miller. And Milo Ventimiglia in all his short-haired buffness. [/end random love]

-I've been watching BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and the decision has come in: I need either a Kendra, Jenny Calendar, or Rupert Giles muse. That is all.

-I don't make icons anymore. Why is that? *decides to make icons*

-Okay, so who here shops at Target? *looks at show of hands* So, they have these dollar bins in front of the store, right? And the stuff there changes all the time. So they've been selling this really *awesome* dollar jewelry...bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc. I picked up a BUNCH of cute stuff...some earrings shaped like angel's wings, a heart necklace, a fleur-de-lis necklace...

And then the other day I picked up another necklace that I thought looked cool. I wore it to the hospital to see Dad yesterday...and he says it's a Nazi symbol. The necklace has a symbol that looks like this, but without the swastika.

Now I have relatives that were in concentration camps...my dad's family is Jewish. I would never knowingly wear a Nazi symbol. But look? I did...Dad told me to look it up online, and I did, and until I saw it with the swastika emblem? It did NOT click with me that the necklace was an Iron Cross.

I got this at Target, peeps. TARGET. This HOW FUCKED UP IS THAT MOMENT has been brought to you by the letters W, T, F, and by the number 0...as in never again. Yeah, I'm taking that shit back.

-I'm on a huge Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, and Eagles kick lately. I must download tuuuuuunes.

-Speaking of Target...I now own an I <3 JIM mug. As in THE OFFICE. Why yes, I am awesome...thank you for noticing. :P

-And did I mention my Dwight Quote Pens? What? Yes, I am *also* made of win, thank you! ;p

-I think me and [livejournal.com profile] rogueapprentice are STILL the only people on the planet who loved THE KILL POINT. We rock. And roll. All day long. SWEET SUZIE. [/end seekrit movie quote language]

-SAM/JO. WTF? SO RANDOM BUT SO GOOD. [/end seekrit message to You Know Who You Are]

-Okay, time to get some work done. And....stuuuuff. I don't post enough, I know...please collect your free pass to kick my ass into doing shit, right here. Line up, nice and orderly people...
madwomanwithabox: ([Heroes] Falling On Deaf Ears)
So...back from the dog show. Obviously.

The good news? Arizona = BEAUTIFUL. I had the best time, and the puppy, Rocky? He won his first THREE championship points at a major, no less.

(translation: to be a champion, a dog has to acquire 15 points, and two of his matches have to be majors, where X number of dogs are competing. Rocky's a Silky Terrier, and the breed's very unpopular. We went to Arizona to help a friend assemble a major, and we scored our first points at it. It's a BIG accomplishment. There are 3, 4, and 5 point majors, where if you win, you get that many points. Rocky took Winner's Dog at a three point major.)

The bad news? I came back home to find out my father has lymphedema.

It's a relatively harmless condition...it's when the lymphatic system won't work right, and causes swelling in the extremities. My dad has out of control swelling in his remaining leg. He has Medicare as well...no problem, right?

WRONG.

Medicare pays for ineffective treatment of lymphedema, including pumps and visits to unqualified professionals which can result in DAMAGE instead of treatment, but the basic materials for the compression dressings that are the most effective treatment of the swelling lymphedema causes? MEDICARE DOES NOT COVER THE COST FOR THESE ITEMS.

Now this is complicated, in my dad's case, by the fact that the condition has caused a wound on his heel...one he can't get treated until he begins compression therapy for his leg. He's in constant pain, and can't even take enough pain medication to relieve it.

I'm gonna kill Medicare. I've already contacted a local lymphedema advocate for info, and letters will begin. I'm planning on five a day, maybe ten. Emails out the ass. I want to crash servers and flood offices. And I'd like help for whoever wants to offer it.

In the meantime, I'll be figuring out a way to pay for $300 worth of compression dressings.

Fuck you, Uncle Sam. Fuck you in the asshole with a big rubber dick...then break it off and beat yourself over the head with the rest of it. You don't fucking get away with hurting MY goddamn family.
madwomanwithabox: ([Heroes] Falling On Deaf Ears)

I'm heading out to Arizona this weekend for a dog show with my aunt, so I won't be back until Sunday evening/Monday morning. The CO's will be around to keep you Inmates in line...anyone with phone privileges (i.e., my cell number, ;p) may utilize them at any and all hours.

And ladies? Don't wear poor Milo out...there's more than enough of him to go around. Hee!

See you cats in a couple days!!
